AN APPEAL

MPF sponsors emergency aid mission for Afghan children

Oct. 4 - Muslim Peace Fellowship will be sending aid to some of the desperate people of Afghanistan, through Tajikistan, in two weeks.

The aid will be carried by our old friend Doug Hostetter, previously of FOR, who will be representing MPF, the Mennonite Central Committee, and the Evanston Mennonite Church.

He will be traveling with Help the Afghan Children, Inc. (www.htaci.com), with which the Jerrahi Mosque in New York State has already done a substantial project. HTACI's director, Suraya Sadeed, is also a first-rate person.

This is the time to write checks, if you have been wanting to help. Make them out to Muslim Peace Fellowship, noted for Afghan Relief, and send them ASAP to MPF, Box 271, Nyack, NY 10960.

Would you like to travel to Afghanistan?
If any of you would like to travel to Afghanistan with Doug as an MPF rep, this is your chance. It would be a great service, and an amazing experience. Travel would be at your own expense, but all expenses would, I believe, be tax-deductible, since you would be doing it as a contribution to a nonprofit organization. Details will follow as we receive them.

Could you help with publicity?
MPF would be DEEPLY indebted if one of you would care to take over the publicity for this project. Please contact Rabia Harris (mpf@forusa.org) if you can help.
